Public Notice – Board Opportunities

The White County Board of Commissioners will be accepting applications for appointment to the Board of Elections & Registration until Friday, September 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

The White County Board of Elections & Registration will be responsible for conducting fair and impartial elections and registering local residents to vote – all within prescribed federal, state, and local laws. This is an advisory board which assists with department related decision making on elections, events, and other important items with regards to elections and registration. The Board will function as the superintendent of elections in White County as of January 1, 2021 – however will be observing portions of the 2020 elections process as part of this transition. The Board performs all services and functions necessary to support the election process.

The Board of Elections and Registration will be a five (5) member board and will be empowered with all the powers and duties relating to the conduct of primaries and elections and will be empowered with all the powers and duties relating to registration of voters and absentee ballot procedures. Initial terms of this board will be for a two (2) or four (4) year term – following the initial terms all appointments will be for a four (4) term.

Qualifications of board members are as follows:

  • Must be a resident of White County;
  • Must be registered to vote;
  • Must be available to attend training required by O.C.G.A § 21-2-100; and
  • Must be available to meet, at a minimum, on a quarterly basis.
