APPEAL INFORMATION

***IMPORTANT NOTICE***

Due to current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the White County Assessors Office is now offering additional appeal options. In order to maximize social distancing, if you wish to appeal your valuation you may submit your appeal using the following options:

When appealing, specify the reason for appeal. Reason(s) for appeal can only be one or more of the following: Value, Uniformity, Taxability, Denial of Exemption or Covenant and Breach of Covenant. Additionally, be sure to include any helpful details about the property. Also, include your value assertion, which is what you think the property is worth. NOTE: YOUR APPEAL IS NOT VALID WITHOUT YOUR ESTIMATE OF VALUE. Please sign and date your appeal. Current valuations are as of January 1, 2020 and based on calendar year 2019 sales comparison data as required by law. Any sales activity or changes in the market after January 1, 2020 will be considered for 2021 valuations. If you need assistance filing your appeal, please call 706-865-5328. Staff members are available to assist you Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Our offices will be closed Memorial Day - May 25, 2020 and on July 3, 2020 in observance of Independence Day.

2020 notices of assessment were mailed on May 22, 2020. The last day to appeal this notice is July 6, 2020. Electronic appeals must be received no later than 5:00 PM EDT on July 6, 2020. Faxed appeals must be received no later than 5:00 PM EDT on July 6, 2020. Mailed appeals must be postmarked no later than July 6, 2020. Any appeal received after the deadline for filing will be rejected. Failure to file an appeal by the stated deadline forfeits your right to appeal for 2020.
