White County Administration

White County Administration is comprised of three separate offices. The offices that make up White County Administration are:

  • County Manager
  • County Clerk
  • Business Tax Office

County Manager

The County Manager is responsible for overseeing the various administrative functions of the White County Departments, advise the White County Commissioners on budgets , and cooperate with other parties to carry out White County's affairs. The current County Manager is Michael Melton.

County Clerk

The County Clerk serves at the pleasure of the White County Board of Commissioners and is appointed every year. It is her duty to record and publish meeting minutes and agendas. The County Clerk also assists in the scheduling of meetings with the Board of Commissioners along with directing all open record requests. Shanda Murphy currently serves as County Clerk.

Business Tax Office

The Business Tax Office manages all business licenses (business occupation tax), hotel & motel tax permits, and alcohol permits. Contact this office for more information on establishing a business in White County.
